Who can use this feature?
Plan: Call Center AI
Managed from: Admin Portal
User type: Admin
By default, Krisp fully cancels all background noise coming from the customer's side. The Customer Noise Cancellation level setting lets Admins adjust how aggressively noise is cancelled from the customer's audio, allowing some ambient sound to pass through when needed.
Customer Noise Cancellation levels
The level can be set on a scale from Low to Full, with 5 positions:
- Low: Minimal noise cancellation. Most of the customer's background sounds pass through, preserving a high degree of environment awareness for the agent.
- Intermediate levels (2 and 3): Progressively more noise is filtered out, while still allowing some ambient sound to remain perceptible.
- Balanced: A middle ground between full cancellation and full passthrough. Reduces most background noise while keeping ambient sounds and hold music audible.
- Full: Standard Noise Cancellation. All background noise from the customer's side is removed for the clearest possible audio.
The setting is applied to all team members. To configure it:
- Sign in to account.krisp.ai.
- Go to Team settings >>> Products >>> Noise Cancellation.
- Adjust the Customer Noise Cancellation level slider to the desired level.
Benefits and use cases
While setting the level to Full delivers the clearest audio by removing all background noise, lower levels offer distinct advantages in certain call center environments:
- Compliance: Retaining some background noise ensures that regulatory requirements around call monitoring and environment awareness are met without compromising call quality.
- Reduced unintentional call terminations: With hold music and dial tones remaining audible, agents can distinguish between customer silence and hold time, minimizing confusion and unintended call terminations.
- Enhanced empathy: Preserving a degree of background noise allows agents to better understand the customer's environment, leading to improved rapport and customer satisfaction.
