Krisp AI Accent Conversion: use cases and where it helps

Krisp AI Accent Conversion improves speech clarity in real time, so both people understand each other easily, while preserving each speaker's natural voice and tone. It works the same way whether you are on a customer call, in a virtual meeting, or recording content for others to watch later: the goal is for the speaker to be understood the first time, without changing how the conversation flows.

How AI Accent Conversion works

Accent Conversion runs locally on the user's device. It keeps the speaker's voice, intonation, and inflections intact while improving how clearly speech comes across. It relies on:

  • Real-time conversion: Accent Conversion adjusts the accent in real time during a live conversation, without disrupting the natural flow.
  • On-device audio processing: All processing happens on the device, supporting privacy and enterprise security standards, including GDPR and SOC 2.
  • Voice preservation: Your voice stays yours. The feature adapts what you say rather than adding new tone or intonation.
  • Bidirectional conversion: It can adjust both directions of a conversation, refining how the other person hears you and how you hear them.

Supported accents and output

Accent Conversion currently produces output in US English and British English for Krisp users. The table below shows which input accents are supported for each output.

The supported input accents below apply to the speaker whose accent is configured for conversion. Conversion of the other party's speech, such as a customer on a call or the speaker in a video you are watching, works with any English accent, with output in US English.

When to use Accent Conversion

Customer and support calls

On contact center calls, accents on either side can slow a conversation down. Because conversion is bidirectional, customers understand agents more easily and agents understand customers more easily, which cuts down on repeats, spelling things out, and misheard details. The result is shorter handle times and less listening fatigue across a shift. This is especially valuable for outsourced or offshore contact centers, where agents and customers are often based in different regions.

Sales and client conversations

In sales and account calls, clarity affects trust. Accent Conversion helps your message land the first time, so the conversation stays focused on the client and not on decoding words.

Cross-border and distributed team meetings

On internal calls with teammates across regions, Accent Conversion smooths comprehension in both directions, so meetings move faster and fewer points get repeated or lost.

Presentations and interviews

Online interviews, presentations, demos, and onboarding sessions are situations where being understood clearly matters most. Accent Conversion helps you speak with confidence without changing your natural voice.

Livestreaming and content creation

Creators, streamers, and hosts of live public broadcasts can enable Accent Conversion to reach a wide audience in real time. Viewers follow along more easily, while the speaker keeps their natural voice.

Recorded trainings and video content

Accent Conversion is not only for live calls. A speaker with an accent can turn it on while recording internal trainings, onboarding sessions, webinars, product demos, course narration, or all-hands sessions. The material is captured with clearer speech the first time, so everyone who watches later follows it more easily and there is no need to re-record for clarity.

Watching accented videos and recordings

Accent Conversion also helps on the listening side. When you watch a recorded training, webinar, or video where the speaker has a strong accent, Accent Conversion refines the audio you hear in real time, so the content is easier to follow without replaying sections or straining to catch every word. It also helps non-native English listeners who find unfamiliar accents harder to follow.
