This article explains which apps can work with Krisp and how to use Krisp with apps that have no dedicated audio settings.
Which apps can work with Krisp
For an app or web app to work with Krisp, it should:
- support virtual audio devices,
- have dedicated audio settings where you can select Krisp Microphone.
Some apps don't have dedicated audio settings, so you can't select Krisp in them directly. To use Krisp Microphone with these apps, you have two options:
- Set Krisp Microphone as your system default microphone
- Select Krisp Microphone for a specific app (Windows only)
Set Krisp Microphone as your system default microphone
When Krisp Microphone is your system default microphone, all apps that use your microphone and support virtual devices will use Krisp during an active stream.
- Go to System Settings >>> Sound >>> Input.
- Select Krisp Microphone.
- Go to Settings >>> System >>> Sound >>> Input.
- Select Krisp Microphone as your input device.
Important
Don't select Krisp Microphone in the Krisp app itself. Krisp needs a physical microphone to work, so the Krisp app should always use your physical device.
Select Krisp Microphone for a specific app on Windows
On Windows, you can also choose which microphone a specific app uses. You can do this from Volume mixer.
- Open the app you want to use with Krisp.
- Go to Settings >>> System >>> Sound >>> Volume mixer.
- Under Apps, click the app to expand it, and select Krisp Microphone from the Input device list.
Hint
If an app has dedicated audio settings, select Krisp there instead of in Volume mixer. This lowers the chance of a wrong setup and the problems that can come from it.
