Who can use this feature?
Plan: Call Center AI
Managed from: Admin Portal
User type: Admin
Calling Apps lets Admins control which of Krisp's products run in each application. Noise Cancellation is always available and is not affected.
By default, Krisp applies its full functionality across the apps your team uses for calls, as long as Krisp Microphone and Speaker are used in those apps. When an app does not need these products (for example, an app used only for internal calls), you can restrict it so Krisp does not run on calls made through it.
Restricting apps ensures that our products are utilized on the calls that need them. It also keeps your call analytics clean by leaving out calls that were never meant to be processed, and it helps manage cost on usage-based products such as Voice Translation.
What happens when an app is restricted
When you restrict an app, calls made through it are treated as follows:
| Product | Restricted |
|---|---|
| Agent Assist | Yes, call summaries and scoring are not generated. |
| Speech Analytics | Yes, call summaries, scoring, and transcripts are not generated. |
| Accent Conversion | Yes, not applied to the call. |
| Voice Translation | Yes, can't be enabled. |
| Noise Cancellation | No, continues to work normally. |
Important
The in-app toggles are grayed out. Agents are not notified when an app is restricted, so if an agent reports that a Krisp product is not working in a specific app despite proper configuration, check whether that app is restricted.
Restrict or allow an app
The app list available in Calling Apps is synced from the apps installed on your team members' devices, so it reflects what your team actually uses.
Info
Browser-based calling apps are grouped under the browser itself: calls made in a browser appear under that browser, such as Google Chrome or Firefox, rather than as a separate app.
Restricting apps is a two-step process. You first turn on restriction for the team, then restrict each app individually.
- In the Admin Portal, go to Team settings >>> Setup >>> Calling Apps.
- Turn on Restrict calling apps from accessing full Krisp functionality. On its own, this does not restrict any app.
- Find an app in the list. Use the Search field to locate it quickly.
- Turn on the toggle next to the app to restrict it. The app is marked Restricted.
- Repeat for each app you want to restrict.
- To allow an app again, turn its toggle off.
Automatically restrict new apps
With restriction turned on, select Automatically restrict calling apps that are out of this list to keep these products limited to only the apps you have approved. Any app that is not already in the list is restricted as soon as Krisp detects it, so new or unexpected apps do not use our products until you allow them.
What restricted apps mean for Users
Users can keep making calls through a restricted app, and Noise Cancellation still works. They will not get transcripts, summaries, call scoring, Accent Conversion, or Voice Translation on those calls, and they will not see any message explaining why. If a user expects one of these products in an app and does not get it, verify their setup and confirm the app is not restricted before troubleshooting further.
