Krisp AI Accent Conversion works best when the input audio is clear, your devices are configured correctly, and your system can handle real-time processing. Use the tips below to improve clarity and get the best results during your calls.

Best practices for Accent Conversion

  1. Use a high-quality headset, preferably USB-wired.

      Hint

    Wired headsets are recommended over wireless ones because a wireless connection can add latency to the converted speech.

    • Use a headset with a dedicated boom microphone for clearer speech capture.
    • Choosing Voice Isolation-compatible devices will help ensure the best possible output quality.
  2. Position your headset correctly.

    • Adjust for comfort: make sure the headset fits snugly without being too tight.
    • Position the mic correctly: place the microphone two finger-widths from the corner of your mouth. Avoid placing it directly in front of your mouth or under your nose, to prevent breathing noise and distortion.
    • Align the mic properly: make sure the front side of the microphone, marked with a colored dot or label, faces your mouth.

  3. Speak naturally and clearly; avoid monotonous speech.
    • Speak at a natural pace and enunciate your words.
    • Since Accent Conversion preserves your voice and tone, it works best with clean, steady speech that has varied tone, intonation, and pitch.
    • Avoid filler words.
  4. Make sure your microphone audio isn't overprocessed.

    Accent Conversion works well with most built-in OS audio enhancements, such as Windows Audio enhancements. Combining these with other audio enhancement layers can reduce output quality. If you notice issues, try disabling them.

    Multiple layers of processing can distort your voice before Krisp receives it. Krisp works with most built-in noise cancelling features in modern headsets and softphones, but aggressive processing in the original audio can still degrade quality.

    • Turn off headset enhancements when possible, such as built-in microphone noise cancellation, voice effects, or equalizers.
    • Disable additional audio processing in your softphone, browser, or OS, for example extra noise suppression or enhancement modes.
  5. Check your volume levels.

    • If you're inaudible to the caller, your microphone volume may be too low. Check the volume level for both your headset and Krisp.
    • If your volume changes automatically, a volume normalization or automatic gain control feature might be at play. For best results, go to Settings >>> Noise Cancellation >>> Audio and turn on Lock at optimal level for Krisp Microphone volume.

  6. Make sure your device meets the minimum requirements.

      Important

    If your device doesn't meet the minimum requirements, you may not always see high CPU usage, but audio quality can still diminish. Older CPUs can have real-time processing limitations that affect Accent Conversion performance.

    Accent Conversion runs in real time and is sensitive to processing limitations.

    • Confirm your machine meets the system requirements for using Krisp.
    • Close CPU-heavy apps and processes during calls when possible, such as video rendering, large downloads, or many active browser tabs.
