Krisp AI Noise Cancellation

Krisp AI Noise Cancellation removes unwanted audio in real time on both sides of the call, so agents can focus on the conversation without being distracted by noise and customers hear a clear, professional voice. It works across the most common contact center setups without requiring changes to the agent's workflow.

How Krisp AI Noise Cancellation works

Krisp AI Noise Cancellation runs locally on the agent's device. All audio processing happens on-device, with no audio sent to external servers, ensuring privacy and compliance with enterprise security standards including GDPR and SOC 2 certifications.

It covers four distinct capabilities:

  • Noise Cancellation: Removes background noise from the agent's microphone in real time. This includes ambient sounds like traffic, air conditioners, keyboard clicks, and other environmental noise, so customers only hear the agent's voice clearly.
  • Agent Voice Isolation: Filters out background human voices around the agent, such as colleagues in an open office or people nearby. Only the agent's voice is transmitted to the customer, keeping conversations private and professional.
  • Customer Noise Cancellation: Reduces background noise coming from the customer's side of the call. Agents hear the customer's voice clearly, without distracting sounds from the customer's environment.
  • Echo Cancellation: Eliminates acoustic echo caused by sound from speakers being picked up by the microphone, and removes room echo caused by sound reflecting off walls and surfaces. Both types are active by default and require no manual setup from the agent.

What noises does Krisp cancel?

Krisp Microphone cancels a wide range of background sounds on the agent's side, including:

  • Animal and nature sounds
  • Street, traffic, and construction noise
  • Keyboard and mouse clicks
  • Children crying or playing
  • Home appliances such as fans, air conditioners, and vacuums

Krisp Microphone also cancels all background human voices around the agent. To learn more about this technology, check out our Agent Voice Isolation article.

Krisp Speaker keeps all human voices and removes the same categories of background noise as Krisp Microphone does.

In addition, Krisp Speaker detects and preserves in-app sounds from the most popular applications, as well as telephony signals and voicemail beeps. Here are the most common applications whose sounds Krisp Speaker does not cancel:

  • Zoom: all in-app sounds
  • MS Teams: all in-app sounds
  • Google Meet: all in-app sounds
  • Cisco Webex: all in-app sounds
  • Skype: only default sounds
  • Slack: only default sounds
  • Avaya: telephony sounds

Dial tones, busy tones, and voicemail beeps are standardized across most commonly used applications. These sounds are also left intact by the Krisp Speaker.
