Quick tips for the best Accent Conversion results

Here are some practical tips to optimize your experience:

  • Choose the right headset: Use a high-quality USB-wired headset with a boom microphone. This ensures clear audio input for Krisp to process. Check out Voice Isolation compatible devices for headset recommendations.
  • Speak naturally and clearly: AI Accent Conversion doesn’t change your tone or add new intonations - it adapts what you provide. Avoid filler words and speak at a natural pace for the best results.
  • Position your microphone correctly: Keep the microphone slightly to the side of your mouth (about an inch away) to prevent breathing noises from interfering with the audio.

  • Monitor system performance: If you notice delays or glitches, check your computer’s CPU and GPU usage. Accent Conversion runs best on devices that meet the recommended system requirements.

Accent Conversion FAQs and troubleshooting

  Important

Accent Conversion is configured by your team Admin. If your current setup doesn't meet your needs, ask your Admin to review the settings. For details, see:

I don't see Accent Conversion in the app

  • Sign in to the correct Call Center AI account via account.krisp.ai, then download and run the Enterprise app version from the Admin Portal.
  • If you’re part of multiple teams, select the team that has Accent Conversion enabled during sign-in.
  • Ask your team Admin to recheck the team configuration from the Admin Portal.

The source accent in the app is incorrect

Accent Conversion won’t turn on or is in an incorrect state

  • Make sure that Krisp Microphone (agent’s Accent Conversion) and/or Krisp Speaker (Customer’s Accent Conversion) are selected as the input/output device in your calling app.
  • Ask your team Admin to check the configuration in the Admin Portal. Certain settings can affect the toggle’s state.

The conversion quality is reduced

There are several factors that can affect conversion output quality, including:

  • Monotone speech: Krisp AI Accent Conversion preserves your tone and intonation. Speech with natural variety in tone and intonation produces the best output.
  • Overloaded CPU: If your processor does not meet the minimum requirements or is running under a heavy load, it may struggle to process audio properly. This can result in reduced quality, audio cutting in and out, or sped-up output.
  • Incorrect source accent configuration: When the source accent configured in the Krisp app does not match your actual accent, conversion quality may be affected.

My voice is cutting in and out

Audio cutouts can be caused by:

  • Audio normalization/automatic gain control settings: If your microphone volume is already low, audio normalization settings (built into web browsers and softphones) can further decrease your volume, making you inaudible to the customer.
  • The selected input device is not compatible with Voice Isolation: Using headsets compatible with Voice Isolation helps ensure the highest Accent Conversion quality.
  • The network connection is unstable or slow: Accent Conversion requires a stable internet connection to process audio in real time. If your connection is unstable or bandwidth is limited, you may experience audio cutouts or delays.
  • The microphone volume is too low: If your microphone input level is too low, Krisp may not capture your voice clearly enough to process it. Check your microphone volume in your OS and softphone sound settings and make sure it's set to an adequate level.
  • The headset is positioned incorrectly: Keep the microphone slightly to the side of your mouth, about an inch away. Positioning it too far or directly in front of your mouth can cause breathing noise or inconsistent audio capture, both of which affect conversion quality.
  • The original audio is overprocessed: This can happen when your headset has built-in aggressive noise cancellation and other processing layers are applied. Disabling audio processing and enhancement options in your headset (if possible), softphone, or third-party apps can help. Also, check for default audio enhancements built into the OS and disable them in the sound settings.

Certain phonemes and words are not converted correctly

  Info

If the points below are not applicable to your case, and the audio quality isn't the cause of incorrect conversion, submit a problem report with an audio sample demonstrating the issue.

  • The audio quality, including the clarity of the word/phrase that was converted incorrectly, may be low.
  • The phrase or the word was mispronounced.
  • The headset is narrowband. For proper conversion, Krisp Accent Conversion requires the original audio to have at least 8kHz bandwidth. Narrowband audio can reduce accuracy.

If none of the steps included in this article resolved your issue, submit a problem report, and our team will follow up.
