Quick tips for the best Noise Cancellation results

  Hint

For more tips and recommendations, see Best practices for Krisp AI Noise Cancellation.

Here are some practical tips to optimize your experience:

  • Choose the right headset: Use a quality USB-wired headset with a boom microphone. This ensures clear audio input for Krisp to process. Headsets compatible with Agent Voice Isolation produce the best results. Check out Voice Isolation compatible devices for headset recommendations.
  • Position your microphone correctly: Keep the microphone slightly to the side of your mouth, about an inch away. Positioning it too far or directly in front of your mouth can cause breathing noise or inconsistent audio capture.

  • Keep Noise Cancellation on before the call starts: Enable the Noise Cancellation toggle in the Krisp widget before joining a call to make sure it's active from the first second.
  • Monitor system performance: Noise Cancellation runs on-device and performs best on devices that meet the recommended system requirements. If you notice delays or audio issues, check your CPU usage.

Noise Cancellation FAQs and troubleshooting

  Important

Noise Cancellation is configured by your team Admin. If your current setup doesn't meet your needs, ask your Admin to review the settings. For details, see:

There is new noise in my environment. Will Krisp cancel it?

Krisp Noise Cancellation works by distinguishing human voice from all other sounds. With the introduction of new noise, it will take Krisp at most a few seconds to start filtering it out. You can test how noise is cleared from your environment using the Test Noise Cancellation feature.

I have Agent Voice Isolation active. Will it work with Noise Cancellation?

Agent Voice Isolation does not interfere with Noise Cancellation. Regardless of whether Agent Voice Isolation is on or off, Noise Cancellation will remain active.

Can I use only microphone or speaker Noise Cancellation?

Yes. You can use microphone and speaker Noise Cancellation separately or simultaneously. Enable or disable the Noise from me and Noise from customer toggles independently from the Krisp widget.

I am standing far from my microphone. Will Krisp capture my voice and cancel the noise?

Krisp works best within a distance of 50 cm. If you are standing farther than that, your voice may be distorted or inconsistently captured.

Noise Cancellation won't turn on

Make sure that Krisp Microphone (agent Noise Cancellation) and/or Krisp Speaker (customer Noise Cancellation) are selected as the input/output device in your calling app.

My voice is cutting in and out

If you experience audio cutouts, the following may be the cause:

  • Audio normalization/automatic gain control settings: If your microphone volume is already low, audio normalization settings (built into web browsers and softphones) can further decrease your volume, making you inaudible to the customer.
  • Unstable or slow network connection: A stable internet connection helps ensure consistent audio processing in real time. If your connection is unstable or bandwidth is limited, you may experience audio cutouts or delays.
  • Low microphone volume: If your microphone input level is too low, Krisp may not capture your voice clearly enough to process it. Check your microphone volume in your OS and softphone sound settings and make sure it's set to an adequate level.
  • Incorrect headset positioning: Keep the microphone slightly to the side of your mouth, about an inch away. Positioning it too far or directly in front of your mouth can cause breathing noise or inconsistent audio capture, both of which affect Noise Cancellation quality.
  • Excessive audio processing: This can happen when your headset has built-in aggressive noise cancellation, and other processing layers are applied. Disabling audio processing and enhancement options in your headset (if possible), softphone, or third-party apps can help. Also, check for default audio enhancements built into the OS and disable them in the sound settings.
